Great Wall of China

95% of Chinese Buildings Energy Inefficient

This translated from this week’s Modern Weekly:

38 Billion Square Feet of Inefficiency in China

95% of the almost 40 billion square feet of floor space in China is energy inefficient, and about 80% of the 2 billion square feet constructed per year is also energy inefficient. This serious situation has created resource burdens and environmental pollution, and is hampering the sustainable development of China.

Not quite sure what energy inefficient construction / buildings (高耗能建设) really means here, but those percentages are scary.
